GB Technique: The Reverse de la Riva Guard with Prof. Marcus Lima

This week on GB Technique we are looking at Reverse de la Riva (RDLR) guard as taught by Prof. Marcus Lima of Gracie Barra Shellharbour
The Reverse de la Riva (RDLR) guard is considered to be a part of the modern jiu-jitsu game where competitors have highly developed the position to use in competition.
We see the RDLR used as an effective counter to the equally powerful knee cut pass. You can’t watch a bjj tournament for long without seeing guard players playing the RDLR game. Primarily a sweeping position, sweeps are not the only option for the RDLR player.
Let’s take a look at some RDLR techniques by Prof. Marcus Lima of Gracie Barra Shellharbour from Australia.
1) Reverse DLR – Kiss of the Dragon Entry
This is probably the most well known technique from RDLR. Prof. Marcus Lima shows some key details to spinning under your opponent in reverse DLR.

2) Back Take From Reverse De La Riva
There are some important points that allow you to control the opponent as you slip to take the back.

3) 70/30 Guard Entry From Reverse De La Riva
Prof. Marcus Lima covers a common reaction from reverse DLR and how to enter the 70/30 guard to counter.

4) Estima Lock From Reverse De La Riva
