At Gracie Barra, the Black Belt represents more than technical skill—it reflects leadership, character, and a lifelong commitment to growth.
Built through discipline, consistency, and clear goals, the journey to Black Belt is guided by the principles of our leadership framework and the vision of Master Carlos Gracie Jr., who reminds us that this dream is possible for everyone.
Earning a Black Belt is not the end of the journey, but the beginning of a greater responsibility: to lead by example, inspire others, and uphold the values of Gracie Barra on and off the mats.
Through our structured programs and curriculum, we provide every student with a clear path to achieve this goal—bringing to life our mission of Jiu-Jitsu for Everyone.
The first step in the Gracie Barra Black Belt Certification Program is to access the GB Institute—the most advanced learning platform Gracie Barra has ever created. Through the GB Institute, Black Belts can enroll in the ICP (Instructor Certification Program), as well as access a wide range of courses designed to support their development on and off the mats.
The ICP is the foundation of this journey, built from an ongoing effort to expand, refine, and update the knowledge of our global team of instructors.
After completing the ICP, Black Belts continue through an evaluation process that includes their Jiu-Jitsu curriculum and lineage verification. As the world evolves, so does Gracie Barra—continuously improving its standards while honoring its legacy.
