GB Technique:  Knee Slice Guard Pass Tips

This week on GB Technique we are going to look at one of the best open guards passes – the Knee Slice aka Knee Cut pass.
This pass is used as often in No-Gi as with the gi and we see it as a primary pass against several of the most popular open guard styles like Outside Hook Guard. There are some details that we must pay attention to and some other techniques that combine well with this pass.

1- The Basic Knee Cut Pass with details

2- Finishing the pass
It’s very common for your opponent to get a quarter guard and control your ankle preventing you from completing the pass. Prof. Bryan Waltz shows a couple of tricks for freeing your foot.
3- Darce Attack from Side Mount / Half Guard top
It’s extremely common to find yourself in this position as your opponent fights your Knee Cut pass. Prof  Feitosa shows how we can look for a Darce choke either from half guard or immediately after the pass when the opponent is turning in towards us.
