Jon "Bones" Jones Signs Up with Gracie Barra New Mexico

World class Jiu-Jitsu school Gracie Barra has snagged one of the biggest names in MMA. Jon Jones, current UFC light heavyweight champion has just signed up withJon Jones BJJ GB Gracie Barra New Mexico. Listing him as one of the A-list team members of the Gracie Barra family. Jon Jones will be joining the No Gi class after his match with Chael Sonnen, which is true to the tradition of having the coaches face one another in every season conclusion of The Ultimate Fighter.

Jon “Bones” Jones is a record holder for being the youngest UFC title holder. He first took the title after defeating Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. He then defended his title against former UFC champion Quentin “Rampage” Jackson.  His later exploits included a submission win against Lyoto Machida and Vitor Belfort.

A former college wrestler, he is known to be an unorthodox striker, but critics say that he is more of a Muay Thai striker. His ground game comprises of wrestling by having spent his college years wrestling for the Iowa Central College wrestling team.

A Fighter’s Humility and the Jiu-Jitsu Way

It is much of a surprise that Jon Jones will be wearing a Jiu-Jitsu white belt. The belt that symbolizes purity and thirst for knowledge now decorates his waist as he rolls with the team of Prof. Roberto Tussa Alencar.

In a tweet by  Jon Jones, he says “I’m excited to stop neglecting my weakness.” Truly, humility and the will to evolve and improve are the qualities of a world class fighter.

Prof. Roberto is a world champion for both World No Gi and the Pan Ams. He is known to be one tough customer on the mats, armed with famous moves like the flying triangle choke.  Having first started training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the age of 14 years old under the guidance of Gabriel Ramos, Prof. Roberto was then taken under the wing of Prof. Alison “Jucao” Brites. He finally earned his black belt from the man himself, Master Carlos Gracie Jr.
