The triangle that we first learn from the guard is one of the most important for 1st year students to learn.
But it is just the starting point! There are numerous setups and variations for the triangle choke.
Any situation you can trap the opponent’s arm and head together with your legs, you have the makings of a triangle choke.
Let us take a look at some variations to expand your thinking about the triangle choke.
1) Triangle choke set up from closed guard using belt control

2) Triangle attack from side mount
