To teach you how to get the back from top half guard, we went after the 2x Brazilian national champion, first degree black belt, Vanessa Silva. Vanessa is known in the Jiu-Jitsu community for her speed and offensive game. The class took place at the Gracie Barra Rio de Janeiro, where she is the teacher of children’s and fundamental classes.

1) Control de half guard having chest to chest and cross face control.
2) Control the lapel.
3) Posture up and push your opponent’s hips away. At the same time free your knee from half guard positioning it on your opponent’s belly.
4) Sit back and at the same time pull up your opponent’s arm and lapel.
5) As you fall back place your hooks to score 4 points and control.
