Jiu-Jitsu practitioners all around the world can tell you many different stories on how their lives crossed paths with the gentle art. Some got into it to lose weight, some got into it because of the MMA hype, some needed something to relieve their stress, some were looking for a way to defend themselves, some got into it because of their friends and family.
Inside a mat, there are all kinds of life stories. But let’s face it; in the beginning life on the mats is tough. You don’t get much of what’s going on, you use too much strength so you’re always gassing out, you get crushed by heavier sparring partners all the time and all of those things we’ve all been through. But suddenly, something hits you and you know your life will never be the same again.
It’s amazing to see how Jiu-Jitsu becomes a big part of every practitioner’s life as they grow more into it. You’ll see people that didn’t even care about nutrition eating healthier foods and doing all they can to get and stay in a better shape. You’ll see people becoming more confident, more patient and relaxed and feeling better about themselves and about everyone around them. Some will even end up make a living out of it. And it only gets better, I’ve seen plenty of busy businessmen squeezing their tight schedules to get a training session in and compete on weekends.
Point is: No matter what you do, Jiu-Jitsu is going to become a huge part of you and it will affect every aspect of your life in a positive way. It just changes you, it changes everything around you, you’ll starting seeing life through a much enlightened and powerful lens. You’ll get out of everyday pressure situations easier, you’ll be able to think and act more clearly, and you’ll feel more energized, healthy and motivated. It is truly magical.
So here is an invitation for all of you to go and get a little Jiu-Jitsu time. Even it it’s once or twice a week, it doesn’t matter. Let Jiu-Jitsu in and let it change your life too!
