Equipe GB: Red Shield Athletes Earn the American National 2013 Title

Today, California is probably the biggest Jiu-Jitsu region outside of Brazil, with mats spread throughout the State and a large number of great instructors and athletes. Winning a U.S. National Championships, organized in California, means getting past renowned teams that have a large number of experienced athletes. That’s what the Gracie Barra team did to become American National Champion on September 7th and 8th, at the event held in the city of Carson, California. To achieve this feat the GB team worked together and our athletes fought hard once again demonstrating the strength of the Jiu-Jitsu taught by Master Carlos Gracie Jr. and perpetuated by our instructors.
Our athletes that stood out at the event and were medalists in the black belt division were Rodrigo de Freitas, AJ Agazarm, Rafael “Tan” Pinto, Magid Hage, Brandon Mullins, Gustavo “Sirizinho” Pires, Diogo Alves Ferreira, and Benjamin Salomon. We can’t forget to mention and thank our black belts Kayron Gracie, Romulo Barral and all those who worked in the corner with our athletes and were essential for winning the title.
Congratulations to all who contributed in any way to help conquer first place for the Gracie Barra team in the U.S. National Championships in the GI and no-GI. We’re still in the month of September and Gracie Barra has won titles in Lisbon, Houston, New York, Los Angeles, Rio de Janeiro, Florianópolis and the list of cities where we fight this year continues. It’s more than 25 titles this year on behalf of Master Carlos Gracie Jr. and his vision of spreading Jiu-Jitsu for everyone.
