Building Your GB Community: The Power of Social Media
Communities do not develop instantly – there is no magic bean or instant option available. Instead, they grow from dedication, attention, and shared goals. Webster’s Dictionary defines community in the following ways:
An interacting population of various kinds of individuals in a common location
A group of people with a common characteristic or interest living together within a larger society
A body of persons or nations having a common history or common social, economic, and political interests
A body of persons of common and especially professional interests scattered through a larger society
Our organization – Gracie Barra – is an international community, representing those above definitions. We have common interests, share a common history brought to us by Master Carlos Gracie Jr., shared professional interests, and more.
Within our larger organization, we have many smaller communities defined by region or even within individual schools. In fact, it is essential that we focus attention on building our GB School communities at these basic levels.
Why Do I Need to Build My Community?
First of all, it is important to understand that your GB School community on a smaller level includes everyone who enters your school, as well as members of your geographic community – your neighborhood.
