Check out how the Gracie Barra instructors show some of their variations to set up and finish the straight armbar.
ㅤ
1 – Let’s start with the most basic version of the armbar from the mount as taught by Prof. Philipe DellaMonica at GB HQ in Irvine, CA
ㅤ
2 – Prof. Dantas teaches 2
Armbar variations from the mount. Pay attention to the gripping details to prevent the opponent from using the free arm to defend the target arm
ㅤ
3 – Armbar from Side Mount Entry Prof. Tussa shows how we can trap our opponent’s arm using our elbow and knee and step over into an armbar variation that some refer to as a “Shotgun Grip”.
ㅤ
4 – Armbar from the rear triangle
This straight armbar results from controlling the opponent in Back Mount, attacking with a rear triangle, and submitting with an armbar if we can’t get the tap with the triangle. Beautiful technique!
