Prof. Nao Takigawa demonstrates a mounted armlock attack combination and a counter for a common defense for us this week.

Prof. Nao’s Tips (for non Portuguese speakers):
1) The first step is to attack the opponent’s neck but getting a deep collar grip

2) Attacking the opponent’s neck causes his elbow to come out from his body when he tried to defend the choke.
Prof. Nao pushes the elbow in and traps it with his bodyweight.

3) Moving to a tight “S mount” Prof. Nao looks to attack the far arm with an Americana shoulder lock.

4) The opponent is forced to defend the Americana by gripping with his other arm. This act exposes the arm for the classic straight arm bar.
Prof. Nao has used a combination of attacks to expose the arm for the ultimate submission,.

Variation #2
The opponent has used the powerful “mata leon” defence (similar to the rear naked choke arm position) against the armlock.
Prof. Nao secures a control grip on the arm(to prevent the opponent from changing and regripping as he moves) and switches his hips to the opposite side of the opponent’s body to negate the “mata leon” defence.
