This equation: passion + career = the Jiu-Jitsu Entrepreneur is a lot like mathematical equations. There are numerous contributing variables, inequalities if you do not add up everything, and it can just sometimes be plain challenging to compute. But also like mathematical equations, if you follow the proven formula, you lead yourself in the needed direction – to the answer for which you are searching (and working).
The Facts of the Jiu-Jitsu Entrepreneur Equation
Unlike searching for that elusive algebraic ‘x’, Master Carlos Gracie Jr. provides us with much of the necessary facts in this entrepreneurial equation. Let’s consider these the qualities and characteristics of the successful GB entrepreneur. He has clearly shown us that if we follow the plan, incorporating the necessary steps, we can grow as entrepreneurs.
- You must be passionate about the martial arts.
- You must be an enthusiastic leader.
- You must be a dedicated entrepreneur.
These three qualities must exist in cooperative balance in order for you to be a successful Jiu-Jitsu entrepreneur. Notice that you need more than just the “want” of becoming a business owner. You also need to be passionate about martial arts, especially Jiu-Jitsu. Notice that we did not say you have to be an accomplished Black Belt with world titles. As the following chart shows, you need to possess characteristics that transcend each specific area of dedication.
As you can see from each column, the individual characteristics include more specific qualities. It is not, mandatory, however, that you possess all of these qualities equally and fully. You are going to naturally excel at some and feel more challenged in others. The journey of the Jiu-Jitsu entrepreneur is all about understanding what you need to work on – your deficits and weaknesses – in order to help provide the kinds of results that you want and need, and continuing to improve your other skillsets.
