It Happened at GB: GB St. Louis Joins Team Members to Help Feed the Homeless
“To strengthen the muscles of your heart, the best exercise is lifting someone else’s spirit whenever you can.”
During the Midwest training camp, Gracie Barra St. Louis (located in O’Fallon Missouri), showed that Jiu-Jitsu is more than just chokes and armbars. Together GB students and instructors collected food donations to help feed the homeless.
In preparation for the Chicago Open, which took place over the summer, GB students were treated to an awesome seminar with Professors coming together from all over. Instead of the usual fee for the seminar, Gracie Barra St. Louis and Gracie Barra Downer’s Grove IL, banded together and asked for students to bring donations. Through these donations, they were able to gather over 400 items to give to the homeless in St, Louis. These items were gathered by Operation Food Search.
Operation Food search was established to help tackle the growing problem of hunger. It’s a St. Louis area food bank that distributes food free of charge to feed the poor and hungry.
Each month, Operation Food Search distributes more than 2 million pounds of food and other items to 270 community partners in 25 counties of Missouri and Illinois. Through this program they are able to feed about 150,000 people every single month and almost half of those receiving food are children.
This is just one more story to add to the multitude of inspirational moments that are happening in Gracie Barra schools across the world today. Gracie Barra St. Louis and Downer’s Grove have done an excellent job of dedicating their time to helping others by impacting the community in a positive way.
