This past weekend, April 25th, 2026, in Barra da Tijuca, where it all began, was not just about dates or belt promotions. It was about the living history of Jiu-Jitsu. Celebrating 40 years of our Gracie Barra and the consecration of the 9th Degree Red Belt of Master Carlos Gracie Jr. is a privilege that words can hardly describe.
Many know the Master with his unwavering demeanor, the leader who built the greatest brotherhood army in the world. On the day of his promotion, he was the same steel as always. But on the following day, seeing the magnitude of the legacy and the unity of all of us, we saw on the Grand Master’s face a tear that was not of weakness, but of someone who fulfilled his mission and continues to give his heart to humanity.
Professionalism, unity, and a longevity that serves as our compass. Mestre Carlinhos, thank you for showing us that the secret is not only what we do on the mats, but who we become off them. It was an honor to live these days by your side at the heart of GB. 🙏
