Professor Bryan Waltz

With over 24 years of experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Prof Bryan has dedicated his life to mastering the art and sharing its benefits with others. A third degree black belt under the renowned Professor Roberto “Tussa” Alencar, Bryan was awarded his black belt from Gracie Barra New Mexico in 2011.
As the founder of the first Gracie Barra academy in Colorado, Prof Bryan has built a reputation for excellence in teaching and mentoring students of all levels. Over the last 13 years, GB Colorado Springs has produced multiple champions, improved the lives of countless students, and has been a positive influence in the local community for over a decade.
At Gracie Barra Colorado Springs, Prof Bryan’s focus is on empowering individuals to transform their lives through the practice of Jiu-Jitsu. With a passion for teaching and a commitment to his students’ growth, Prof Bryan creates a supportive and challenging environment that fosters physical, mental, and emotional development. Professor Vanessa Waltz

Vanessa Waltz is a 2nd-degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt with roots in the art dating back to 2003. With over two decades of experience and more than 10 years dedicated to teaching, Vanessa is a respected leader and mentor at Gracie Barra Colorado Springs.
A skilled competitor, Vanessa has earned podium finishes at top events including IBJJF Pan Ams, NoGi Worlds, Master World, Pan American NoGi, and North America International Master Championship. She shares her deep technical knowledge not only through academy instruction, but also by teaching seminars and producing instructional content for students and practitioners beyond her home base.
As a mother, Vanessa leads with empathy, discipline, and clarity—bringing a grounded, intuitive approach to her teaching. She specializes in adult and teens Jiu-Jitsu, creating a space where students feel challenged, supported, and inspired to grow.
Vanessa co-owns the academy with her husband, 3rd-degree black belt Professor Bryan Waltz. Together, they have built a community rooted in excellence, mutual respect, and the transformative power of Jiu-Jitsu since 2011.
