Gracie Barra Kids

Introduce your child to Jiu-Jitsu and help them build confidence, discipline, respect, focus, physical ability, and essential self-defence skills - all in a safe and supportive environment. By practicing Jiu-Jitsu, children learn valuable skills they wouldn’t develop from other sports.

Empowering Kids Through Jiu-Jitsu

At Gracie Barra, Jiu-Jitsu is more than a martial art - it’s a path to confidence, resilience, and respect. Through structured training, kids learn focus, discipline, and how to overcome challenges.

In a safe, supportive environment, our certified instructors help students build strength, coordination, and essential life skills. Surrounded by a strong sense of team and belonging, they become part of a global family - growing on and off the mats.

By practising Jiu-Jitsu, children learn valuable skills they wouldn’t develop from other sports - like staying calm under pressure, using technique over strength, and solving problems with focus and confidence.

  • I’m thrilled to be part of Gracie Barra Victoria! Professors Pato and Guto are not only highly experienced but also approachable and supportive. They’ve created a welcoming and safe environment where students can fully commit and grow in their jiu-jitsu journey. I would highly recommend Gracie Barra Victoria to anyone, whether you’re just starting out or continuing your training!
  • Ana, Pato, and Guto have treated our family like their family from day one. Their space is clean and welcoming. Instructors are patient, respectful, professional, and provide an appropriate progression for all skill levels. It is exactly what our family was looking for. Thank you.
  • Amazing class! I have never ever trained before and I found my self doing a really good job thanks to the excellent support I got from all the staff! Highly recommend!
  • I’ve been training at Gracie Barra for about 8 months, and it’s been great. The instructors are skilled and supportive, alongside the welcoming community of low and high belts alike. I’ve grown in both technique and enjoyment as I continue to go, I highly recommend GB for anyone interested in BJJ.
  • From the moment I walked in, Professor Pato and Professor Guto made me feel genuinely welcome, especially as a complete beginner. Their Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes are very well-structured: they don’t just teach technique, they break down the mental and philosophical side of the art step-by-step, show you practical real-world self-defense applications, and push you exactly enough to improve without feeling overwhelmed. What sets Gracie Barra Victoria apart is its leadership and sense of camaraderie. There’s a deep respect for training partners, an ethos of mutual growth and long-term success built on care and trust, all guided by skilled, intuitive instruction and a powerful sense of belonging. The mats are always very clean, the schedule is flexible around work and family life, and they make Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu accessible no matter where you're at, with beginner, kids and women’s-only classes. If you’re looking for authentic BJJ training, top-tier coaching, and a positive gym atmosphere in Victoria, Gracie Barra is the real deal. Still not sure? Come visit, take a look around. You'll feel it the moment you walk through the door. I went from hesitation and zero experience to training every other day.
  • Amazing school! My 6yo loves going to his classes twice a week. The instructors are amazing, the structure of the classes is well suited for this group age and flexibility in schedule great for a busy family. Highly recommend!
  • This place is honestly, a life changing experience. All for the better! The people, the environment it's just great! They're not just some people fighting, its a family and you feel right at home right when you walk in the door. I highly recommend this place to anyone! Especially anyone dealing with bullying or abuse this would be the perfect place to go!
  • I've been training at Gracie Barra since it opened in February. It's hands down the absolute best BJJ academy I've trained at. 1. Professor Guto and Professor Pato are world class. They come from a solid martial arts background and hold an incredible amount of knowledge of Jiu-Jitsu. They are excellent instructors and are able to tailor their approach to any skill level. 2. The atmosphere is amazing. Everyone that I've had the privilege to train with has a positive attitude. Respectful, humble, considerate, dedicated, motivated are some words I would use to describe the folks that come here to train. 3. The Olympic, low friction mats are awesome! They are cleaned after every class. The whole facility is kept very tidy and organized. 4. The classes are structured in a way to teach fundamentals first. Gracie Barra follows a schedule in that every week you will focus on a position (mount, guard, etc) and learn how to defend, or work to a better position, or to a submission, or something new that you didn't even know existed! You drill it a few times and then depending on the progression you finish with a few rounds of open mat to work on what you learned. 5. From the limited number of kids classes that I've observed before my training, the kids seemed to be really engaged. The program is progressive and safe. It's designed in a way to make it fun for them but also set them up with a solid foundation to grow from. The program also teaches life skills that extend beyond the mats, in terms of coping with stress, being respectful to others, controlling emotions and so on. I could keep going, but I'll leave it there. If you've ever wanted to try Jiu-Jitsu, or want to get back into it like myself, I strongly recommend you check out Gracie Barra Victoria. You will understand what I'm talking about after your first class. Hope to see you on the mats!
  • Life changing experience. Son joined here and has been nothing but a welcoming environment for him. All staff are very helpful and have gone to great lengths to encourage the improvements of skills and training for him.
