7.4 Draw location: Gracie Barra Bondi, Sydney NSW.
7.5 The Promoter will take reasonable steps to conduct the draw fairly.
8) The prize
8.1 There is one (1) prize.
8.2 Prize description (winner/recipient only): A trip for one person (the winner or a nominated Prize Recipient under clause 10) to attend and compete in an eligible competition, including:
-
return flights for the winner/Prize Recipient;
-
3 nights’ accommodation for the winner/Prize Recipient; and
-
the competition registration fee for the winner/Prize Recipient.
8.3 Prize value — hard cap: The maximum total value of the prize is AUD $3,500 (“Prize Cap”). The Promoter is not responsible for any costs above the Prize Cap.
8.4 If costs exceed the Prize Cap: If selected flights, accommodation and registration fee exceed the Prize Cap, the parent/guardian (for a minor) or the winner/Prize Recipient (if 18+) may choose:
-
(a) to pay the difference; or
-
(b) to choose alternative reasonable arrangements that keep total costs within the Prize Cap; or
-
(c) to take the reimbursement-style cash alternative in clause 8.8 and section 8A (up to the Prize Cap).
8.5 Promoter-selected arrangements: The Promoter will research and select reasonable flight and accommodation options based on availability, standard routing, and standard accommodation (not luxury), aiming to stay within the Prize Cap.
8.6 What’s not included: Unless expressly listed in clause 8.2, the prize does not include (for example) passports, visas, vaccinations, travel insurance, meals, spending money, local transfers, additional nights, training fees, medical expenses, or any chaperone costs.
8.7 Eligible competition (BJJ requirement): The prize must be used for:
-
(a) a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition; or
-
(b) a competition event that includes a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu division, and the winner/Prize Recipient must be a registered competitor in that BJJ division.
The Promoter may require reasonable proof of competition and division registration.
8.8 Cash alternative (reimbursement only): If the parent/guardian (on behalf of a minor) or the winner/Prize Recipient (if 18+) does not wish to accept the Promoter’s selected travel arrangements, they may choose a cash alternative, which is paid as a reimbursement of eligible competition-related expenses (not as unrestricted cash), up to a maximum of $3,500, in accordance with section 8A.
8.9 Prize expiry: The prize must be redeemed within 12 months of the draw date — by 17 April 2027 — or it will be forfeited (unless required otherwise by law).
8A) Cash alternative — must be used for competition (proof required)
8A.1 Purpose: The cash alternative is provided to support participation in an Eligible Competition (clause 8.7). It must only be used for the following eligible expenses for the winner/Prize Recipient:
-
(a) return airfare;
-
(b) accommodation for up to 3 nights; and
-
(c) the Eligible Competition registration fee.
No other costs are covered unless the Promoter agrees in writing.
8A.2 Evidence required: To receive any reimbursement, the parent/guardian (for a minor) or the winner/Prize Recipient (if 18+) must provide reasonable evidence of the Eligible Competition and the eligible expenses, which may include:
-
(a) proof of registration in the BJJ division (or BJJ competition); and
-
(b) itemised receipts/tax invoices and booking confirmations showing amounts paid, dates, and the traveller/guest name.
8A.3 Payment timing: Reimbursement will be paid after evidence is provided and verified, and within 14 days of verification, by electronic funds transfer to an Australian bank account nominated by the parent/guardian (for a minor) or the winner/Prize Recipient (if 18+).
8A.4 Payment limits: Reimbursement is capped at the Prize Cap of $3,500. If eligible expenses exceed $3,500, the difference is the responsibility of the parent/guardian/winner/Prize Recipient.
8A.5 Partial reimbursement: If eligible expenses are less than $3,500, the Promoter will reimburse only the actual eligible expenses incurred (not the difference).
8A.6 Direct payment option: At the Promoter’s discretion, the Promoter may pay eligible expenses directly to third-party providers (such as airlines, accommodation providers, or the competition organiser) instead of reimbursing the parent/guardian/winner/Prize Recipient.
8A.7 Failure to use for eligible purpose: If adequate evidence is not provided, or if the Promoter reasonably believes the claim is not for an Eligible Competition or eligible expenses, the Promoter may refuse reimbursement and instead offer (at its discretion) either:
-
(a) alternative travel arrangements selected by the Promoter within the Prize Cap; or
-
(b) transfer of the prize to another Prize Recipient under clause 10;
otherwise the prize may be forfeited at the end of the redemption period.
8A.8 Fraud and misuse: If the Promoter reasonably suspects fraud, falsified documents, or misuse, the Promoter may reject the claim and take any reasonable steps available under law.
9) Winner notification, publication and acceptance
9.1 The Promoter will contact the winner using the contact details provided at registration (for minors, the parent/guardian contact details).
9.2 The winner (if 18+) or the parent/guardian (for a minor) must accept the prize within a reasonable timeframe nominated by the Promoter, and acceptance includes either:
-
confirming the winner will use the prize; or
-
nominating a Prize Recipient under clause 10.
9.3 The winner will only be publicly announced with the winner’s permission (if 18+) or the parent/guardian’s permission (for minors).
10) Transferability (nominating a Prize Recipient)
10.1 Transferable prize: The prize is transferable. The winner (if 18+) or the parent/guardian (for a minor) may nominate another individual to receive the prize (“Prize Recipient”) by giving the Promoter written notice within 14 days of winner notification (or such other reasonable timeframe agreed with the Promoter).
10.2 The Prize Recipient must provide any information reasonably required to fulfil the prize and must comply with these Terms & Conditions.
10.3 If the Prize Recipient is a minor, their parent/guardian must accept the prize and be responsible for supervision and travel requirements (including clause 11).
10.4 The Promoter may refuse a nominated Prize Recipient where required by law, where identity cannot be verified, where the nomination is not reasonably practicable to fulfil, or where it creates a safety risk.
11) Travel, minors and safety (important)
11.1 Chaperone required for minors: If the winner/Prize Recipient is under 18, they must be accompanied on the trip by a parent/legal guardian or another adult authorised in writing by the parent/legal guardian (“Chaperone”). The Promoter does not provide or pay for the Chaperone.
11.2 If a chaperone can’t be arranged: If a chaperone cannot be arranged within the redemption period, the prize may be taken as the reimbursement-style cash alternative in accordance with section 8A or transferred to another Prize Recipient (clause 10). Otherwise, it will be forfeited at the end of the redemption period.
11.3 Responsibility: The winner/Prize Recipient (and for minors, their parent/guardian) is responsible for passports, visas, permissions, supervision, medical fitness to travel/compete, and compliance with laws and competition rules.
11.4 Insurance: Travel insurance is strongly recommended. Any medical or emergency costs are the responsibility of the winner/Prize Recipient and/or their parent/guardian.
11.5 Scheduling and availability: Travel dates, competition choice and bookings are subject to availability and reasonable planning time. The Promoter may request a shortlist of preferred competitions and dates.
12) Unclaimed prize and redraw
12.1 If the Promoter cannot contact the winner within 14 days of the draw, or if the winner/parent/guardian declines the prize, the Promoter may conduct a redraw from remaining eligible entries.
12.2 Any redraw will be conducted at Gracie Barra Bondi, Sydney NSW, using a random draw method consistent with clause 7, as soon as reasonably practicable after the 14-day period.
13) Marketing and publicity consent
13.1 By entering, the winner (if 18+) or the parent/guardian (for minors) consents to the Promoter using the winner’s (and if applicable, the Prize Recipient’s) name, likeness, and images for promotional and marketing purposes relating to Gracie Barra Bondi and the Camp (including social media, website, print and digital).
13.2 The winner (if 18+) or the parent/guardian (for minors) may withdraw this consent in writing at any time after the Promotion concludes. Withdrawal will not affect use already published or scheduled in good faith before withdrawal is received.
14) Personal information and privacy
14.1 The Promoter collects personal information to run the Promotion (including to contact the winner and fulfil the prize) and may disclose it to third parties assisting with fulfilment (for example airlines, accommodation providers, and competition registration bodies), where necessary.
14.2 Personal information will be handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). The Promoter will take reasonable steps to protect personal information and retain it only as long as needed for the Promotion and legal obligations.
15) Australian Consumer Law
15.1 Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits, excludes or modifies any rights or remedies the winner/Prize Recipient may have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
16) Liability and release
16.1 To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Promoter is not responsible for any loss, damage or injury (including indirect or consequential loss) suffered or sustained in connection with:
-
participating in the Promotion;
-
accepting or using the prize; or
-
travel and attendance at any competition (including any act or omission of third-party providers).
16.2 This includes (without limitation) delays, cancellations, changes to competition schedules, third-party failures, and costs incurred beyond the Prize Cap.
16.3 Clause 16 does not apply to the extent liability cannot be excluded under applicable law (including the Australian Consumer Law).
17) Promoter’s rights to vary, suspend or cancel
17.1 If circumstances beyond the Promoter’s reasonable control occur (including safety issues, system failures, changes affecting travel, or events affecting the Camp), the Promoter may cancel, modify, suspend or terminate the Promotion, subject to applicable law.
18) General
18.1 Severability: If any clause is illegal, unenforceable or invalid, it is to be read down or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remainder will continue in force.
18.2 Governing law: These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. The parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of NSW.
19) Social media disclaimer
