Reaching the one-year milestone at Gracie Barra Artarmon is more than a celebration of time — it is a celebration of success stories and community. This past weekend, our team, families, kids, and friends came together for a day filled with joy, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and gratitude as we marked our first anniversary in the heart of Artarmon.
From the moment the doors opened, the energy on the mats was electric. Students of all ages — from our littlest champions to adults from every walk of life — rolled together, shared stories, and reflected on how much they’ve grown through BJJ. It was a reminder that our school has become a true community hub for anyone searching for “BJJ near me”, “Martial Arts near me”, or “Self Defence near me” in the Artarmon, Chatswood, Crows Nest, Willoughby, North Sydney, and Lane Cove areas.
A Special Promotion to Mark the Occasion
One of the most touching moments of the day was our special promotion ceremony. Students who have shown extraordinary commitment, Discipline, and perseverance earned new belts in front of the entire GB Artarmon family. Watching kids beam with pride as they accepted recognition from their coaches was a beautiful reminder of why Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu changes lives.
The ceremony highlighted the values that define our school: consistent effort, respect for others, and a shared journey towards self-improvement — both on and off the mats.
Fun for Kids, Families & the Entire Community
After training, the celebrations continued outside with an morning full of laughter and connection. A huge hit for the young ones was the jumping castle, which became a buzzing centre of excitement. Families enjoyed time together, meeting new parents and strengthening the bonds that make our community so special.
Our BBQ kept everyone smiling and well-fed as students, parents, and coaches shared stories about the past year — favourite classes, breakthrough moments, and the friendships formed through Martial Arts. Whether you're from Chatswood, Lane Cove, Willoughby, North Sydney, or Crows Nest, the BBQ felt like a big family reunion, perfectly capturing the spirit of Gracie Barra.
Looking Back on One Year of Growth
Over the past 12 months, we’ve watched beginners gain confidence, children grow in Discipline and focus, and adults discover the joy of a healthier, more balanced lifestyle through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Our community has expanded, our classes have grown stronger, and GB Artarmon has become a welcoming home for anyone wanting to learn Martial Arts in a safe, structured, and positive environment.
