Gracie Barra Artarmon students competing at AFBJJ NSW State Championship

Last weekend, the team from Gracie Barra Artarmon proudly represented our academy at the AFBJJ NSW State Championship, one of the most important Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitions in New South Wales.

For many of our students, this event marked a significant milestone in their Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey.

Some of our adult students competed for the very first time, stepping onto the mats with courage, determination and a willingness to challenge themselves.

A Big Step for Our Adult Students

Competing for the first time is never easy. It requires preparation, discipline and the ability to step outside of your comfort zone.

At Gracie Barra Artarmon, we always encourage our students to focus on personal growth rather than results.

For those who competed, this experience was about:

  • Building confidence
  • Applying techniques under pressure
  • Learning from the experience
  • Growing both physically and mentally

More Than a Competition – A Strong Community

One of the most special aspects of the day was the support from our community.

Teammates, families and friends came together to support each other throughout the event.

Seeing students cheering, coaching and encouraging one another reflects the type of environment we strive to build at Gracie Barra Artarmon — a place where everyone grows together.

This sense of brotherhood and support is what makes Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu such a powerful martial art.

Growth On and Off the Mats

Competition is not just about medals. It is about growth, resilience and development.

Every student who stepped onto the mats took an important step forward in their journey.

Experiences like this help students develop:

  • Confidence
  • Mental strength
  • Discipline
  • Focus under pressure

These qualities extend far beyond Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training.

Many of our students from across Artarmon, Chatswood, Lane Cove, Willoughby and North Sydney train regularly to develop these skills.

Congratulations to Our Competitors

We would like to congratulate all of our students who stepped up to compete at the AFBJJ NSW State Championship.

Taking that first step onto the competition mats is a huge achievement, and we are incredibly proud of everyone who represented Gracie Barra Artarmon.

Your dedication and effort reflect the values of Brotherhood, Integrity and Development that define our school.
