Come join us for some Strength and Conditioning

We are happy to announce that we will be having Coach Kris join the Gracie Barra team teaching some strength and conditioning and mobility training.

Here is a little bit about the classes and Kris.

I enjoy teaching my classes and making them as beneficial, safe, effective, and fun as possible. Giving people what they want, and also sprinkling in what they need. To do this I use a mobility system in my training based on scientific principles and research that builds articular strength (joint),  neurological control and helping with injury mitigation.

“Functional Range Systems” is also used extensively in rehab and professional sports and worldwide.

To give you an example of one of the principals…

We are only as strong as “the sum” of our parts. So if we are weak/deficient in one of our shoulders, hip, or knee for example.  Iit hinders the rest of our performance and eventually shows up in our everyday and affects our quality of life.

You don’t have to be an athlete to benefit from mobility training/strength training. It’s for everyday people. Although one of the perks of mobility/strength training is your body will naturally become more athletic. You see as we age we don’t just lose our flexibility.  We lose it because we don’t use it.

These classes will not only help you get your strength and flexibility back, but you’ll move better and wake up with less aches/pains. An ounce of prevention is worth its weight in gold! Especially as we mature, health/movement is key to the longevity and quality of our lives.

To give you an idea of what class entails. I start class with mobility work to maintain joint health, identify movement limitations (red flag) and also acts as a ‘warm-up’

Mobility training is followed by strength/conditioning exercises and ends with a breathing cool down to lower the heart rate and relax the nervous system.

I’ll be available after classes to happily answer any questions/curiosities. I’m looking forward to meeting you all!
