Coach Lorraine Hurtado – Purple Belt
ICP6, CPR
Lorraine, a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Professor Thiago Reinaldo, mother of three beautiful treasures Eviann, Faith and Noah. From a very young age she had an interest in Jiujitsu but she had no place nearby or accessible to start this wonderful adventure. It was then when she moved to Stafford Virginia that her oldest son Eviann, started Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at Gracie Barra Stafford. This excellent program provided great tools that helped him with his confidence, self-defense, concentration and focus. Every day she was observing during practice the growth of her son and its benefits, awakening in her an intense interest in learning about self-defense and Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
It is at that time 2020 at the age of 33, four months after giving birth to her third child, where she discovered her passion for Jiu-Jitsu and interest in competing, inspired by Professor Thiago Reinaldo. His professionalism, dedication, knowledge and experience supporting and helping each student to believe and achieve their goals. She uses her sweet mom heart and love for children to coach the Little Champions 1 and Little Champions 2 Kids Program at Gracie Barra Stafford. One of the many reasons that she enjoys being a coach is helping the kids gaining confidence and guiding them to meeting their goals with all the amazing tools that the GBK offers.
Lorraine started her competition journey when she earned her third stripe as a white belt. She competed IBJJF Gi and No-Gi tournaments including Master Worlds, PAN placing first, second and third places in some of them. The most recent accomplishment was at IBJJF PAN Championship 2023 Silver Medalist 2023 light-feather weight division.
As an Athlete, during training is always trying to do the best version of herself working hard on the mats every single day and always encouraging and supporting all her teammates. The champions are forged in the training room. Jiujitsu has brought countless benefits to her life physically, mentally and emotionally which have helped her health and personal growth. She wants to be an example and inspire everyone who wants to start Jiu-jitsu but does not know how to take the first step. It is never too late to start achieving your dreams, always believing in yourself with passion and determination you can accomplish anything you set your mind to.
