GOOD TO KNOW

The cost comes back if they keep training

Whatever you pay for the workshop goes toward their membership or their first uniform if they decide to carry on.

What they walk away with

Four things every kid should know before they need them. Taught the way children actually learn, by doing it rather than being told.

Build confidence

How to carry yourself so you are a harder target. Posture, eye contact, a steady voice.

Set boundaries

The words to use when someone crosses a line, and the confidence to say them out loud.

Deal with bullying

When to walk away, when to speak up, and which adult to tell. Kids leave with a plan.

Basic self defence

Simple, safe ways to get free and get to safety if someone grabs or pushes them.

Who this is for

Maybe something happened at school. Maybe nothing has, and you would rather it stayed that way. Either one is a good reason to be here.

Most kids do not freeze because they lack courage. They freeze because nobody has ever shown them what to do, and the moment arrives faster than they can think.

This workshop gives them the practice. They rehearse the words, the stance and the escape until it is muscle memory instead of a lesson. Coaches keep it light, and the room stays warm and loud and fun the whole way through.

You are welcome to stay and watch the whole thing.

How the morning runs

Drop off at 9:20am, on the mats at 9:30am.

A coach working one on one with a young student while the group watches

  1. Move and meet. Games and a warm up. Coaches learn every kid’s name and the nerves wear off fast.
  2. Stand tall. What confident looks like from the outside, and why it changes how other kids treat you.
  3. Use your voice. The exact words for stop, for walking away, and for telling an adult. Practised out loud, together.
  4. Hands on. Safe, age appropriate self defence. Getting free of a grab, staying on your feet, getting to safety.
  5. Put it together. Kids run it with a partner so it sticks. Coaches finish with a quick recap for parents so you can back it up at home.

Questions parents ask

Does my child need any experience?

None at all. The workshop is built for kids who have never set foot on a mat. Everything starts from zero.

How long does it run?

Plan for about an hour on the mats from 9:30am. Arrive by 9:20am so we can sign in and get started on time.

What should they wear?

Comfortable clothes they can move in. Shorts and a t-shirt is perfect. No uniform needed, and we train in bare feet, so leave the shoes at the edge of the mats.

My child is shy. Will they be alright?

Yes. Our coaches do this every week and they start soft. Shy kids are usually laughing by the second game. Nobody gets put on the spot.

Can I stay and watch?

Please do. There is seating along the side of the mats and most parents stay for the whole session.

Can I book two children?

Yes. Two kids is $29 total. Add both children when you register.

What if we cannot make that date?

Give us a call on 0451 280 008 or email [email protected] and we will let you know when the next one is running.
