Gracie Barra Oceania Brings NSW Together for Black Belt Day
On 19 October, Gracie Barra Oceania organised one of the most inspiring gatherings of the year — the Black Belt Day, held at the Gracie Barra Headquarters Sydney in Frenchs Forest.
The event united schools from across New South Wales, with some participants travelling over five hours to take part. Over 100 practitioners filled the mats, including around 50 black belts, all sharing the same purpose — to learn, grow and connect as one GB family.
Celebrating Excellence and Connection
The afternoon’s program began with a special black and brown belt sparring session, followed by an open training for all levels. The highlight of the day was the promotion ceremony, promoting 21 black belts for their dedication and years of commitment to the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Black Belt Day reflected everything that Gracie Barra stands for — Brotherhood, Integrity and Development. The energy, smiles, and sense of unity on the mats showed that we are part of something much bigger than ourselves.
