Professor David Romo
Professor David and his family currently reside in Mansfield, Texas. He started training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2007 in Albuquerque, New Mexico under Professor Don Ortega and Professor Roberto “Tussa” Alencar. Professor David was born in Torreon, Mexico and moved to the U.S. with his family at age 15. He enlisted in the United States Air Force at age 22 and received an Officer Commission in 2002. Professor David continues to serve his country in the United States Air Force Reserves. In 2007, he attended his first introductory class with Professor Don Ortega and was immediately hooked on Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He continued to train under Professor Ortega and Professor Tussa until 2016 when he and his family relocated to San Antonio, Texas. During the first two years in Texas, Professor David trained with Marra Senki under Professor Luis Sergio “Marra” Correa. While on military assignment in 2019, Professor David had the opportunity to rejoin Gracie Barra, attending classes in the United Kingdom at Gracie Barra Mildenhall, Royal Air Force Base Lakenheath. In 2021 Professor David relocated to Mansfield Texas for employment and joined the Gracie Barra team in Cedar Hill under Professor Arnoldo Rivera. Throughout the years he continued to stay in contact with his Albuquerque Gracie Barra family and in April 2023, David proudly received his black belt from Professor Tussa, in the very location where he started his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu journey. With the presence of Professor Don Ortega, Professor Tussa Alencar, and Professor Roberto Zarate at the ceremony, Professor David made the decision to open a Gracie Barra school in the great city of Fort Worth Texas.
