Women’s Self Defense
It started as a couple of classes to get a group of ladies together for self-defense. It has since grown into a monthly opportunity to empower and encourage a sisterhood beyond the mats. Open to the community with no membership requirement, a monthly class allows participants to build upon the knowledge of previous classes. Not only are the ladies that attend learning more but, they are sharpening and practicing what they’ve already learned, gaining confidence in their skills and themselves.
Program Director of Gracie Barra Columbia, Amanda Johaning started the class to support and build up other women in the community. You can read more about her Jiu Jitsu journey and the reason for starting the class in the September 2022 Issue of Inside Columbia.
Women’s Self Defense meets the last Friday of every month and is open to the community.
