The more experienced your opponent, the more likely that they can counter your direct, 1st attack. That is why advanced practitioners of jiu-jitsu attack in combination to get the submission or sweep.
1) Armbar from guard after your opponent defends the triangle
There are a lot of attack options when you have an opponent in your guard.
