This week Gracie Barra Techniques brings you some videos on 5 of the most important techniques for the Blue belt student.
By the time you graduate to your bluebelt, you should have a solid grasp of the basic techniques in the GB Fundamentals classes. Now is time to experiment with a few more advanced positions and start to really find your own personal BJJ game.
1) Arm Drag to Ko Uchi Gari
Brandon “Wolverine” Mullins, one of the head instructors of Gracie Barra Texas, teaches one of his “Go to” take downs, an arm drag to ko uchi gari. This is something he has had a lot of success with in tournaments.
2) Half Guard Sweep / Raspagem partindo da Meia Guarda
I was shown this very sweep when I trained at Gracie Barra in Barra de Tijuca, Brazil.
3) Passing the De La Riva Guard
The more advanced training partners that you roll with, the more often you will have to pass this guard style.
4) Clock / Collar choke from turtle position
When your opponent goes to a tight turtle, with zero room for your hooks, this is a powerful attack.
5) Spider-Guard Switch to Omoplata
Gracie Barra San Clemente Jiu-Jitsu Professor Flavio Almeida teaches a spider guard omoplata attack.
