Gracie Barra Springlake: One more!

This is very exciting. Whenever a Gracie Barra school announces a grand opening, everyone is psyched. It’s like a new born joining the family. And it will mean more people being able to get into Jiu-Jitsu, more lives to touch, more gold medals, more tournaments. A school’s contribution to the team could be great! The possibilities are litmitless. The date is March the 8th!

professor-rafael-233x350Rafael Jovet is a brownbelt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, who has been follower of the art early year 2000. Aside from Jiu-Jitsu, he also has dabbled in Judo and Taekwondo.

GB.com: So what made you decide to open your own school?
Rafael: Aside from my devotion for the Art in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and passion for teaching, I have experience changes in others in a very positive manner what is to endure a Jiu-jitsu journey, thus the feeling is vicious and contagious.

GB.com: What inspired you to do this?
Rafael: Jujitsu has truly helped me focus in life and inspire others to do the same. How we respect human life, better ourselves and others professionally, intellectually and morally through Jujitsu is remarkable amazing.

GB.com: Tell us about the school. Will you be offering anything on top of the curriculum?
Rafael: We take on the traditional martial art approach and focus on two disciplines; Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and Judo. From ages 3 years and up, highlighting programs are Anti-bullying, women self-defense and Sports Jiu-jitsu.

GB.com: So what’s your Gracie Barra Story?
Rafael: Even though, began training back in 2000; however it did take a turn of a tremendous opportunity in 2012, when I meet Prof. Alex Machado in Portugal. It was his influence, mentorship and forward-looking that posed to my significant achievements in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. Since then trained Multi-national Soldiers the Art of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu
abroad (Afghanistan and Germany), competed both in Europe and United States and ultimately Opening a Gracie Barra school following the dreams and philosophy of the Gracie Family.

Rafael:  Rômulo Barral, Alex Machado and Draculino, and Braulio Estima.

GB.com: What’s your personal philosophy?
Rafael:  Our world is full of cynical people and negativity; I believe we should always strive to make each day count! No matter how challenging is your Aim!

GB.com: What drives you to succeed?
Rafael: My family, my two boys, and more importantly, be a better person!
